Le Markstein

If you’re just learning to ski, Le Markstein has a special beginner’s area, with 3 green runs and 1 blue.

Le Markstein’s ski school is installing a children’s area with a rope tow so that kids can have fun and learn to ski safely. It’s specially designed for 4-to-6-year-olds. Learning to ski is child’s play!

For the more adventurous, the resort offers a snowpark and boardercross.

The slalom run at Le Markstein is open access, and every year hosts International Ski Federation competitions.

You can also try new winter sports such as snowkiting, on the mountain pastures at Le Steinlebach.

Hire your gear (skis, boots, snowshoes etc.) at the resort.

Markstein Grand-Ballon Nordic ski area

The Nordic ski area at Le Markstein offers 40 km of groomed and signed trails, from Le Grand-Ballon to Breitfirst at altitudes of between 1,150 m and 1,343 m.

Enjoy the vast expanses of snow-covered landscapes while classic cross-country skiing or notch up the kilometres skate skiing. Whichever style you prefer, you’ll find the perfect trail here!

And if you’re happier not straying too far from the facilities, there’s a specially designed Nordic Park in the centre of the resort itself with 4 loops of varying degrees of difficulty.

Want to get away from it all and explore the mountains a different way? There’s a choice of 6 snowshoe trails starting from Le Markstein.

Downhill skiing at Le Grand-Ballon

The highest point in the Vosges Mountains, at an altitude of 1,424 m, Le Grand-Ballon offers skiers spectacular views of the Alsace plain, the Black Forest and the Alps.
