Gérardmer La Mauselaine downhill ski area

Domaine alpin de la Mauselaine

With its 21 interconnected runs totalling 40 km, the resort of La Mauselaine – Gérardmer (770 m – 1,140 m) is one of the Vosges Mountains’ top resorts.

Overlooking Gérardmer and its lake, the downhill ski area has been carved out among the pine forests, just 2 minutes from the town centre. Free parking is available for up to 1,200 vehicles and there is a free ski bus from Gérardmer town centre. The resort has installed 182 snow cannons to guarantee skiing is possible throughout the season.

All you need in the way of equipment and services is on hand, including ski school, ski hire, food outlets (also on the slopes), childcare (in season), ski lockers, sledging area, play area for the little ones and starting points for snowshoe walks.

Night skiing (with music!) is possible on the floodlit slopes from 5.00 pm to 9.30 pm.

This is where you’ll find the longest run in the whole of the Vosges Mountains: cruise down 2,900 m!

Les Bas-Rupts Nordic ski area

Gérardmer the Nordic paradise

A family-friendly ski area complete with pulks and snow baby sleds

Les Bas-Rupts is the only resort in the Vosges Mountains where you can hire a pulk!

These little sleds, designed to carry small children as soon as they can sit upright, are popular in the Scandinavian countries. A fun mode of transport for the little ones and much less tiring for the parents than a back carrier!

Snow Baby sled

Fix your stroller to the Snow Baby sled and take your little ones for their first walk in the snow. No stress! Suitable for 1-to-3-year-olds.

Cross-country ski trails

Enjoy 30 km of signed and groomed tracks, suitable for classic cross-country and skate skiing, in the heart of eastern France’s largest Nordic ski area.

The ski area features 2 green trails, ideal for beginners, starting from the ticket office and welcome centre at Les Bas-Rupts. Once you’ve mastered these, you can progress to the other loops and work up to the high-altitude trails above 1,000 m.

If there’s not enough snow at Les Bas-Rupts, the starting-point is transferred to the Hautes Vannes welcome centre. From here, skiers access the high-altitude trails directly, where the snow is often more abundant.

This site also has a green trail for beginners.

The Les Bioqués trail includes sections linking to Xonrupt and La Bresse.
