One knows few things about the old church of Clairegoutte, whose origin would go back to the 12th century. It is built on the ruins of an old pagan temple. The north-eastern angle it building lets guess a niche intended for a statue; when with the western frontage, it is very marked Romance. This church was deeply renovated in 1734 and one bell-tower of stone was built in 1777 to replace two bell-towers out of wooden. Its site is particular, in the middle of the frontage which looks at the village and not with one of the ends of the nave like the habit wants it. The windows, by rectangular form, take as a starting point those of the church Saint Martin's day Lutheran of Montbeliard, in the style of the Schickhardt architect. An interior gallery of wurtembourgeois type on columns of oaks, makes almost the turn of the building. Built at the 18th century for the faithful ones of Frederic-Fountain, it involved the obturation of the rosette of the chorus. At the time of the restoration of the church undertaken in 1966-67, this rosette was raised and equipped with a stained glass of Etienne Lovy, on the of the Good Shepherd. The old furnace bridge of the 13th century which decorated the garden of the presbytery, was recut and reinstalled like melts baptismal. The current furnace bridge was equipped with a cross of oak of Hungary encrusted with enamels of Limoges carried out by Georges Deloraine. The pulpit of the 17th century, inspired by that where Martin Luther preached, was also restored of after a drawing of Cranach. Lastly, the beautiful rise of sandstone staircases, closed grids, was entirely rebuilt in 1990, giving to the unit a majestic character.
