The origins of the spinning mill date back to 1842 when Pierre Charles Guillaume Fergusson-Tepper set up a mechanical cotton weaving mill on the site of a former hardware factory and thus gave birth to the Fergusson-Tepper spinning mill.

In 1867, a cotton mill was added to the weaving mill, which it gradually replaced, and for almost a century and a half, some 200 people worked successively to keep the place running smoothly. At the height of activity, 294 people were employed.

The company Boucher-Mura et Cie succeeded the Fergusson-Tepper weaving mill in 1893.

The site was officially named Filature de Ronchamp for the first time in 1964 when the Risler group became the owner of the factory. This group concentrates on the spinning activity only.

The spinning activity as such ceased definitively in 1981 and was replaced by automotive subcontracting.

In 1992, the Schlienger group set up a cutting, stamping and assembly activity for the automotive industry on the premises of the spinning mill, under the name Setrafac (Société de Travail à Façon). The company now has 100 employees.

Gestamp - a Spanish equipment manufacturer specialising in the manufacture of structural parts in large series, mainly for PSA - moved to the Spinning Mill site in 2005.

In 2010, Gestamp left the site and the Communauté de Communes Rahin et Chérimont acquired it.

Under the aegis of the Community of Municipalities, the first companies moved onto the site in January 2011.

This former cotton mill has become the new dynamic heart of the region, with economic, cultural, sporting and tourist activities. You will find cells for craftsmen and tradesmen (carpentry, printing and design, motorbike accessories and clothing, painting and aerography), a bar-brasserie, two rehearsal studios, a 500m² exhibition hall, a sports hall approved at regional level and able to accommodate up to 300 people in tiers, a covered public hall and a
a covered public hall and a belvedere offering a view of the Ronchamp chapel.

Lastly, Filature 2.0 is the site's digital third place. Composed of a coworking space (openspace offices, private offices, training room, videoconference room and photo studio) and a fablab equipped with 10 digitally controlled machines (3D printers, laser cutters, etc.), Filature 2.0 is a place open to all: companies, project leaders, freelancers, students, residents, do-it-yourselfers and the simply curious.

La Filature de Ronchamp hosts numerous events (shows, fairs, markets, concerts, exhibitions, etc.) throughout the year. The site is open to the public, who can take advantage of the infrastructures: soft link between Ronchamp and Champagney, benches and picnic tables, skate park...
Since April 2023, Micro-Folie - La Filature Gallery - , an interactive digital museum, is open and accessible to the public, free of charge.
