LA BRODERIE DE PLOMBIÈRES
88370 PLOMBIERES LES BAINS
Originally executed in white on white fabric, the Plombières embroidery is composed of many varieties of relief stitches, filling, ajourage, under the names of White Embroidery, known as the Vosges, English, Richelieu, Renaissance or Touraine. Worked by women gathered in front of the houses and who were paid by the piece, these embroideries were used in household linen, lingerie or decoration. It began to take on colours in the 20th century, while retaining its specificity: the plumetis.
