From 1605 to 1608 more than 200 stones, mile stones and boundary limits, some sculptured, some not, staked out the boundaries between the Duchy of Lorrane and the Counts of Le Petite Pierre, Hanau Lichtenberg and the Duchy of Deux Ponts.
Some can still be seen today between Soucht, Meisenthal and Rolbing and between Althorn, Baerenthal and Mouterhouse.
Others pass between Eguelshardt and Philippsbourg: these ones have the arms of Hanau on one side and the Lorraine Cross on the other. They can be found along the forestry road to the west of Hanau Lake.
