Gîte la Marcairie du Rappenkopf

In the heart of the forest, come recharge your batteries in a peaceful setting by staying in a fully renovated former marcairie. The cottage is energy self-sufficient, with electricity supplied by photovoltaic solar panels and heating provided by underfloor heating powered by solar thermal panels and a wood chip boiler.

Located in the Ballons des Vosges Regional Nature Park, this 32 m² self-contained cottage, which can accommodate 2 to 3 people, is rated 3 keys by Clévacances and 4 storks/4 horseshoes by the CRTE Alsace as an equestrian cottage. It is located between Lac Vert and Lac du Forlet, at an elevation of 950 meters, near the “Cigognes” trail for horseback riders, numerous hiking trails—including the GR5—and the TMV trail for mountain bikers.

The last 3 km of the access road to the lodge are on an unpaved forest road. In winter, snow removal is not guaranteed at all times; please bring the necessary equipment (snow chains).

In Soultzeren, located 6 km from the lodge, you’ll find a bakery/grocery store, a butcher shop, and numerous farms where you can treat your palate to delicious local products (cheese, meat, charcuterie, jams, honey, syrups, etc.). Near the cottage, you can dine at the Lac du Forlet farm-inn, the Auberge du Tanet, the Ferme aux Rennes, the Auberge de Schupferen, or the Soultzersmatt farm-inn. To get there, you can rent two all-terrain electric scooters from the cottage—they’re the perfect way to get around on the forest trails (€35 per scooter for 1.5 hours of use, or €180 per week).

On the ground floor of the cottage, just past the entrance, you’ll find an open-concept kitchen leading into the dining area, featuring a large solid walnut countertop and a dishwasher. For your convenience, you’ll have access to all the kitchen essentials you need to prepare delicious meals. An Android TV allows you to connect to your phone in addition to the digital terrestrial TV (TNT) antenna.

A bathroom with a dry toilet is also located on the ground floor.

Upstairs, the bedroom features a 160-cm double bed (2 x 80) and an 80-cm alcove bed. You’ll also find a small desk and a closet.

Outside, a large terrace allows you not only to enjoy meals surrounded by nature but also to watch the forest animals or gaze at the stars after dark.

You can rent by the night (€145 per night for 2 people) or book a 3-night weekend package (€380 for 3 nights). For a full week, the rate is €690.

What’s included in the rate (for 2 people): linens, bath towels (1 shower towel and 1 hand towel), cleaning service, cleaning supplies, and baby essentials provided upon request.

Additional charges (for 2 people): €15 per night for a third adult, plus tourist tax.

Pets are not allowed. The cottage is not accessible to people with limited mobility.

For a stay with a reduced carbon footprint, you can take the train to the Munster station, where the owners will provide round-trip transportation to the cottage (electric scooters are available for rent at the cottage for getting around during your stay).

If you’d like, you can meet the animals—the horses or Highland cows, who especially enjoy being brushed.
