Out in the snow in the Vosges Mountains!

Reading time : 2min

Explore the snow-capped peaks and fir trees of the Vosges Mountains with one of the many family activities on offer that don’t involve skis.
This morning, we put on our warm clothes and head out the door to the lovely sound of snow crunching under each step. We are definitely in for a treat today.

A fun morning

Snowball fight!
Let's build an igloo!
And hurtle down the toboggan runs!
Whoa! We're going fast and having a blast! It's a great start to the day with a bunch of activities to experience, either on our own or with one of the professional guides of the snow parks.

Massif des Vosges - Neige en famille

We discover that almost all the resorts have a big toboggan run open to all ages. On a traditional wooden sledge or a toboggan, we ride down the hill, fall, get up, go back to the top, and we're off again for another ride down!
In Bussang, we try the longest toboggan run in the Vosges: 1.5 kilometres on an old road closed to traffic.
For even more thrills, we take a ride on Schlitt Mountain, a state-of-the-art, year-round mountain coaster at the resort of La Bresse-Hohneck. A modern sledge that takes us on a 700-m-long descent with turns, drops, jumps, and 360° spins.

Everyone knows that snow works up an appetite!

To recharge our batteries, we stop in a farmhouse inn. There are lots of these establishments in the Vosges: for breakfast, lunch, dinner, or even overnight in the heart of nature. The chance to experience mountain hospitality and enjoy a fabulous meal! The generous Vosges Mountains have something to fill you up for all budgets.

Discovering nature or cocooning? And why not both?

Massif des Vosges - Randonnée en raquettes

We choose a snowshoe hike with a mountain guide who offers us an outing adapted to the youngest member of the family, in a short stroll to discover the lakes, the animals and the mountain. We go at our own pace and we reach places that would otherwise be inaccessible. In total autonomy on marked trails or with a professional, we experience the happiness of making the first track on an immaculate snow cover, and the feeling of freedom in magnificent spaces.

It's time to relax, starting with a hot drink and a slice of raspberry pie (the wild blueberry of the Vosges).

What could be more pleasant than to warm up and relax in a swimming pool, a sauna, a hammam or a jacuzzi! It's a good thing that the structure where we are staying offers us a relaxation area as well as treatments.

So while the children splash around in the pool, we, the older ones, enjoy a treatment and various facilities.

Snow all night long

The little ones wanted to continue the snow experience in their dreams... and they convinced us... There is no lack of unusual accommodation in the Vosges: yurt, Indian teepee, cabin, igloo... we had a hard time making our choice. So here we are finally nestled in a tree in a snowy cabin and we can contemplate the stars ... but we can tell you that after such a day, the sandman is not long to come. We can't wait for tomorrow!
