Discover the Ballons des Vosges

5/5
Reading time : 3min

At the heart of the Vosges Mountains stand peaks known as “ballons”, sharing the exceptional landscape with lakes, forests and mountain pastures.

We discover this diverse, natural land on a hike among natural sites and historical landmarks.

The Ballons des Vosges Circuit

We opt for a hike with a mountain guide to discover the Ballons des Vosges. From May to September, there are 2 packages available, both for 7 days and 6 nights:

– the Ballons des Vosges Circuit, northern section;

– the Ballons des Vosges Circuit, southern section.

For our first hike, we choose the north with its ridges and remarkable lakes.

Climb up, climb down and take in the views

Our adventure begins on the historical site of Saint-Mont and then continues towards the village of Le Haut du Tôt with its remarkable natural sites, including Pissoire Waterfall. The second day, we stop by the stunning Bouchot Waterfall in the Rochesson Valley. The third day, we climb through mountain passes to reach stunning panoramic views in La Bresse. We’ve still got 4 days of hiking left and we can’t wait to see the surprises and wonders in store.

7 days up close with plants and wildlife

The Vosges Mountains are brimming with natural treasures. There’s a new discovery on each and every trail: sundews, cranberries, yellow foxglove and wild blueberries. It’s rarer to spot wildlife, but we observe plenty of birds, including peregrine falcons and ravens.

Les animaux se font plus rares, mais nous avons pu observer de nombreux oiseaux comme le faucon pèlerin ou le Grand Corbeau.

6 nights with all the comforts of home

After walking 15.5 km per day, we really appreciate our nights in a hotel. After a mountain meal and a well-deserved rest, we enjoy talking with the locals who are always eager to share their knowledge of the Vosges.

Point info : Each night along the Ballons des Vosges Circuit, you’ll stay in a comfortable hotel or inn.
