LA ZONE HUMIDE DE LA MOUTIÈRE

The wetland of La Moutière is protected by the Conservatoire des espaces naturels, is located at an altitude of about 385m, in a basin, the marsh concentrates the rains from the Fossard massif via the Seux stream. It is a legacy of the last ice ages, consisting of several metres of alluvium deposited after the retreat of the glaciers. The peaty soil now covers the entire site. Located in the heart of the village, it nevertheless shelters quite remarkable natural habitats, in particular peaty facies and the Sanguisorbe officinale (herbaceous plant) which gives a habitat to the Azure des paluds (butterfly).
